The announcement was made by Gary Halpern, COO of Neutronics Inc., who noted, “We are very excited about the BioPak 240 Revolution’s successful test results and ultimate approvals for worldwide use. The new BioPak underwent extensive testing and evaluation, and was subject to rigorous scrutiny by the health and safety industry. Our next generation rebreather came up strong and lived up to its promises. We are delighted to be able to make the BioPak 240 Revolution available to our customers on a worldwide basis.”
BioPak 240 Revolution,
a proven advancement in SCBA design
The new Biomarine BioPak 240 Revolution’s development was based on extensive R&D and focus panel testing with rescue personnel. It is the industry’s most advanced and easiest to use long duration rebreather. Easier breathing, lowest resistance BioPak 240 Revolution’s tidal volume of 6-litres delivers the industry’s lowest closed-circuit breathing resistance at all work rates, making breathing more comfortable and less stressful. The BioPak 240 Revolution vents only used air, reducing overall oxygen need and demand valve usage.
Deployment and maintenance reduced by 50%
The patented CO2 scrubber system uses solid disposable cartridges, which allows absorbent replacement in a fraction of the time required by other rebreathers. The cartridges do not require manual refilling and will not channel dust or settle during usage or transportation. The BioPak 240 Revolution’s innovative quick-change cooling system features long-lasting, refreezable cooling canisters that can be changed in seconds, while the operator is still wearing the unit. The canisters are accessible externally via twist off lids. There is no need to open the housing or break into the breathing loop, so positive pressure is maintained throughout the coolant change.
Greater comfort and safety
The BioPak 240 Revolution is ergonomically designed and body-contoured for maximum comfort and ease-of-use. It weighs less than any other SCBA and fits comfortably under protective gear. The fully padded easily adjustable ergonomic harness positions the weight on the hips instead of the shoulders to reduce operator fatigue. It uses a Scott AV-3000® face piece with dual “voicemitter” and 6-point quad adjustment harness.
System status alerts, easily accessible controls
Easily accessible controls and displays keep the user fully aware of operational status. Features include: a temperature sensor to monitor coolant installation; a pneumatic pressure gauge to display O2 status, fiber optic-based, color-coded warning signals for normal operation, low battery, possible missing coolant, and 25% end of service; a “bump-proof” oxygen cylinder knob to protect against accidental actuation; and a manual quick disconnect to prevent O2 loss from gauge line damage.
Lowest cost of ownership on the market
The BioPak 240 Revolution has a lower initial purchase price, costs less to maintain, and provides a lower total ownership cost than any other 4-hour SCBA on the market. No mandatory replacement or factory rebuilds are required.
Overall weight is a light 33 lbs. (15 kg). Dimensions are 23.0” L x 17.3” W x 7.0” D (584mm X 439mm X 178mm)
